Baron Munchausen traveled in the winter on a sleigh. In the evening he rode into the woods. He dozed off, but suddenly he heard the alarmed neighing of a horse. In the light of the moon the hero spotted a fierce wolf. It opened its wide mouth and tried to catch up with Munchausen’s sled.

The man did not know what to do. Out of fear he lay down at the bottom of the sleigh and covered his eyes. He heard the sound of the wolf’s teeth snapping nearby. The predator didn’t notice him, jumped over the sled over his head and attacked the horse.

In an instant it swallowed the horse’s rear end. The front part of the horse, driven by terror and pain continued to run. The baron took the whip and began to whip the wolf with it. It howled and lunged forward. The uneaten part of the horse fell out of its mouth.

The wolf was in the place of its prey, in shackles and harness. Munchausen continued to whip the animal with all his might. The Baron rode very fast and in a couple of hours reached St. Petersburg. He greatly surprised the locals, who gathered in large crowds to look at the unusual carriage.
