After her first husband died, Deirdre remarried. But her first husband, Tim, luckily survived, and they met again. Now Deirdre doesn’t know what to do.

George Crothers, along with his wife Deirdre, arrived at a South African tobacco plantation for an inspection. Deirdre was sad-she was still pining for her first husband, killed during the war in these parts.

While walking around the plantation, Deirdre became ill and decided to return to the house. One of the workers was sent to accompany the woman. In this worker, Deirdre recognized her first husband, Tim Nugent — it turns out, he miraculously managed to survive. The happy lovers embrace.

Deirdre tells Tim that she has married a second time. Before parting, Deirdre asks him not to say anything to George yet, for he has been good to her. They meet again at a cafe. Tim is jealous, saying he still loves her. At some point Tim realizes that Deirdre is pregnant. He runs out of the cafe saying he has to work it out his own way.

When Crozier returns home from the plantation, he tells his wife that the worker who walked her home had shot himself.
