The young and beautiful widow cannot accept her husband’s death and does not look at other men, although there are indeed many around her. They try to marry her off to wealthy suitors, but she is adamant.

But one day in church, Leonarda saw an attractive young man named Camilo. He, after much persuasion, agrees to meet the lady. The date pleased both of them. Over time, they fall more and more in love with each other, while Leonarda’s admirers try to find out if she has a lover. Camilo has no idea what his chosen one looks like because she hides her face behind a mask.

Leonarda is outraged that Camilo mistook her for an old woman. She decides to tell him on the date that everything is of course. During the meeting, the young man lights up people’s faces with a lantern, and the guards want to kill him. But Leonarda opens up to her chosen one, and they decide to get married.
