In the Bering Sea, a pair of harbor seals has a white calf. The mother taught everything every SEAL should know: to fish, to swim, to watch out for the killer whale. The parents were proud of the unusual baby, and the White Cat himself believed in his special fate.

The coast, where the seals lived, was often visited by hunters and killed sea creatures for the sake of the pelts. But the seals continued to live in the same place. A white-coat decided to find a safe place to live, where his congeners would not be exterminated by people.

The hero searches for years for a fertile place, appealing to the wisest of the northern animals. Finally a sea cow shows him the way to an island surrounded by reefs. He returned to the tribe, but his kin were hesitant to leave their native shore. But White Kotik managed to win the authority of the other seals, and the most desperate ones followed the new leader.

The remaining congeners called the departed ones idiots. But after a year, hearing the news from the sea cows, the whole tribe moved to a new safe land.
