A girl married a Colonel Yagich, «Volodya the Big», and became the mistress of the doctor’s young son, «Volodya the Little.» A week later her lover left her.

Sophia Lvovna married profitably. Her husband, Colonel Vladimir Nikitich Yagich or «Volodya the Big» is much older than his wife. Previously, the girl was in love with «Volodya the Little» — the young son of a doctor in Yagich’s regiment. Now Sofya Lvovna seems indifferent to him, she is rich and very fond of her unjuvenile husband.

One day she returns from a restaurant with two Vladimirs, having fun, pranks. On the way, the girl stops by the monastery, to visit her friend Olya, who has become a nun. The girls chat warmly, exchanging news. Olya agrees to take a little ride with Sofia Lvovna and Volodya.

The next day Sophia Lvovna feels ill. She is visited by Volodya little, and the girl becomes his mistress. Their affair lasts for a week, after which the man leaves her. Sophia Lvovna thinks about how boring life will be now.
