Alp, a young Venetian boy, was deeply in love with the daughter of the governor of the Venetian garrison, Minotti, Francesca. He requested permission to marry the girl from her father, but the latter refused Alpe.

Soon a false accusation came to the palace from Alp from an unknown sender. He was condemned, and Alp fled Venice, joining the troops who recognized only the Turkish flag. Now Alp rejected his homeland, his religion, and even his old name, Lanciotto.

The Ottoman army was preparing to storm Acrocorinth, but before the morning attack Francesca announced to Alpe that he must forgive those who had slandered him, repent of his treachery and prevent the battle.

Alp was faced with a choice: forgive the enemies who had slandered him and defend the Venetian Empire from attack, or continue his vengeance with the Turkish troops under his command. He made the decision to continue, and the final battle began.
