Mowgli’s adventures continue. In the story «How Fear Came to the Jungle,» a boy during the Great Drought learns the story of Ta, the first elephant progenitor, and the first murder committed by a tiger. In the story «The Invasion of the Jungle,» Mowgli takes revenge on the people of the village for wanting to kill the boy and his named mother. Mowgli also finds the precious Prince Ankas in the Ruined City and fights wild red dogs. In the finale, Mowgli grows up and leaves for the humans.

From the story «The Miracle of Puran Bhagat,» we learn the story of a high caste brahmin, the most respected man in the country, who once gave up everything and went into the mountains, where he became a hermit.

In the story «Gravediggers,» three scavenger animals live near people. A jackal and an adjutant bird ingratiate themselves with a huge cannibal crocodile, but abandon him in a moment of danger.

The story «Quickwern» tells the story of Eskimo life and the trials endured by the courageous teenager Kotuko and his dog, who saved the village from starvation.
