The princess of Elis rejects two suitors. One of them decides to cheat and pretends to be in love with her cousin. The princess is jealous of him and asks her father to prevent his marriage to her cousin.

The princess of Elis was a proud beauty. Two Greek princes were in love with the girl. They asked for her hand in marriage, but she refused them. Then the prince of Ithaca, named Evrail, decided that he could win her heart with cunning.

He pretended to be indifferent to the girl’s cousin. The princess became jealous of her former admirer. She felt insulted and begged Iphitas, Ruler of Aelis, to stop their marriage.

Her father complies with the princess´ request. Euryale then tells the ruler what his plan is. He then marries the princess of Elyda.
