At one time the writer heard a comical story from a friend of his, which almost ended in tears.

One day the author’s friend received a huge goose as a Christmas present. On his way home, he decided to stop by the local tavern to relax a little after a day’s work. Suddenly Jerome’s friend remembered that he had made a promise to visit some acquaintances who lived in one of the suburbs of the British capital that evening. He thought that his friends had plenty of birds, so it would not be a good idea to bring them a goose. The writer’s friend decided to get rid of the manager’s gift.

He tried to sell the goose in the inn. Only one visitor wanted to buy the bird, but in the end they did not agree on the price.

After many adventures, the tipsy protagonist decided to give the goose to the first policeman he could find for free. But the latter did not want to take it. The author’s friend threw off his cap and after a while threw the goose from the bridge into the river. He was soon apprehended.
