A poor student arrived to study in Granada. There he fell in love with a priest’s daughter, but penniless he dared not claim her hand. But one day the young man met a strangely dressed soldier who told him of a hidden treasure.

One day a poor student, Don Vicente, was on his way to the glorious Granada. On his way he found a ring with a signet ring — two crossed triangles forming a star.

In the city the student met a beautiful girl, the daughter of the Granada priest Padre Tomas. The young man fell madly in love. But the poor student was an unsuitable match for the priest’s daughter. The young man fell into despair.

One day the student met a soldier who was the king’s bodyguard and had been captured by the Moors. The soldier told him that he had been seduced by a sorcerer and was now condemned to be a constant guard for hundreds of years. A ring with the seal of Solomon, which the student has found, will free the soldier from the spell and open the way to the treasure. A Christian priest and a Christian maiden are needed to help.

The student told the whole story to Padre Thomas and his daughter. Together they set out for the right place. But the priest spoiled everything — he broke his three-day fast too early. The way to the treasure was closed, and the guard once again carried on his perpetual fast.
