The Carthaginian fleet has been defeated by the Romans. Only the galley of Magro, the commander, survives and returns home. The galley moves very slowly — it is damaged, many slaves, sailors killed and wounded.

The officers on deck talk about how Carthage trusted Rome in vain. Now the state awaits certain doom.

The Carthaginian warriors have almost reached their native shores. They noticed two more galleys approaching swiftly. The Carthaginians rejoiced, thinking they were the remnants of their fleet. Now united, they would be able to fight back against Rome.

But it turns out they are Roman galleys. Then Magor give the order to bring the Roman ships closer and hook them to prevent them from sailing away. The Carthaginians then sink their galleys along with the Romans.

That same year the Romans burn Carthage to the ground.
