The main character in the first three stories («The Mowgli Brothers,» «Kaa the Python Hunt,» and «Tiger! Tiger!») is the boy Mowgli, raised by wolves in the jungles of India. As a two-year-old child, Mowgli was brought into a family of wolves who raised him. Mowgli has two faithful friends and teachers: the bear Baloo and the panther Bagheera. Later, the wise python Kaa, who saved the boy from the monkeys, also appears. Mowgli is hunted by the tiger Sher-Khan, but the human cub defeats the tiger time after time.

The story «White SEAL» tells the story of an unusual cub with white fur that is born to a pair of seals. Kitty decides to find a safe place for his kin, who are regularly killed by hunters, and sets out on a long journey.

In the story «Ricky-Ticky-Tawy,» the brave mongoose protects his rescued family from the vicious king cobras, Naga and Nagayna.

In the story «Little Tumai,» the boy has been friends with the old elephant Kala Nag since childhood. One day the elephant took Tumai with him into the jungle, where he saw an amazing elephant dance.
