The main character, the artist Stephen Jones, came to the George Rogers Museum in London. The exhibits there were wax figures of various unseen beings. Rogers asserted that he could penetrate the Other Worlds, where the terrible creatures dwelled. He had also made a startling discovery that he would soon show everyone.

Jones did not believe him, and Rogers, to prove his point, suggested that the hero spend the night in the museum in pitch darkness. Jones agreed to the wager.

At night in the museum, Jones was attacked by an unknown creature. The hero lost consciousness, and when he woke up, he saw that he was dragged across the floor by Rogers, disguised as a monster. He was going to sacrifice Jones and then turn his corpse into a wax figure. But suddenly a real monster crawled out of a secret door and attacked Rogers.

Jones managed to escape from the museum. Two weeks later, the hero learned that a new wax figure of a creepy monster with a face similar to George Rogers had appeared in the museum.
