The author recalls that the first six days of being in the above-mentioned room were relatively quiet. He adds that he often wondered what exactly the letter «B» meant. Dickens constructed various theories and even woke up in the middle of the night.

However, on the 7th day something happened that made him very afraid. Early in the morning, the writer decided to shave and went to the mirror. After a while, the creative saw a boy’s silhouette next to him. The author flinched and turned around, but did not notice anyone. When he looked in the mirror again, the image of the smiling child appeared before him again.

Being in a state of shock, Dickens decided to go around the room to convince himself that no boy was in the room. But after a while he saw both the unknown young man and his father, and even his own grandfather.
