Claire Holywell lives a quiet life in a quiet village with her dogs. Since childhood, she has been in love with Gerald Lee. No one doubted that they would marry in the future. But Gerald unexpectedly marries Vivien, a charming city girl.

By chance, Claire discovers that Vivienne is having an affair with another man. As a decent Christian, she can’t tell Gerald about her cheating spouse, although it is difficult for her to keep silent.

One night, Claire hears Vivienne speak disparagingly of her. That evening, Claire lets Vivian know that she knows about her affair. From then on, Vivien lives in suspense.

Soon Gerald meets Claire and tells her that they are going to go abroad for a year. Vivien makes an appointment for Claire to talk. During the meeting, Vivien accidentally falls off a cliff. Claire holds herself responsible for her death, although witnesses saw that the girl slipped and fell herself. But after this incident, Claire becomes insane.
