A quarrel arises between Lycas and Filene. They are separated by Corydon. The hero demands that his beloved choose either of them. Then the girl says she would prefer Coridon.

Hearing this, the rivals decide to commit suicide. They begin to concede the right of primacy to each other. The shepherd laughs at them as they seek perdition because of unrequited love. Nearby, the gypsy girls dance. They sing of joy, youth, and love.
