In the woods, leaning against an oak tree, an elderly priest stood motionless. To his right sat six blind old men, and to his left sat six blind women. Three of them were praying, the fourth was very old, and the sixth was young, while the fifth had a sleeping baby in her arms.

The heroes wore gloomy clothes. They were all waiting for something. The blind were concerned about the priest’s long absence. The old woman thinks that he was not feeling well after the doctor’s death. The young girl recalls their last meeting. The priest was trembling then, as if from fear.

The priest wanted to show the blind the place where their shelter was located. For this purpose he led them to the seashore. The blind men want to return to the shelter. They hear the clock strike 12 times, but they do not know if it is day or night.

One of those present suggests that they return to the shelter by orienting themselves to the noise of the river, but the others want to wait. A shelter dog runs up to the heroes. He drags one of them toward the motionless priest. The blind men realize that a dead man is among them and soon find out who he is.
