In the first part, the poet tries to answer the question, «How can I find my love?» He considers the theater or a dinner party to be the best places to look. The author also gives numerous tips for men related to taking care of their appearance.

In the second part, Ovid explains how to achieve reciprocal feelings and arouse passion. He talks about women’s behavior in different situations in terms of psychology, revealing their ulterior motives and desires.

The third part is devoted to answers to the question, «How can you keep love?» It includes advice for men and women. The author advises not to lie to women, to fuel jealousy and to accustom the lover to feel homesick during separation.
