Tom and his friend Huck witness a murder. Tom and the girl Becky are lost in a cave. That’s where the killer is hiding. The children escape from him. Huck is taken in by the widow Douglas, whom he saved.

Tom is a mischievous boy raised by Aunt Polly. Tom likes to be mischievous and befriends frumpy Huck, the son of alcoholic Finn. Huck wants to get his wart out by throwing a dead cat into the cemetery at midnight. Tom asks to take him with him.

A doctor comes to the cemetery to exhume a fresh corpse for experiments. On his orders, Potter the drunk and Joe the Indian take out the dead man. Joe hatches revenge and kills the doctor and blames the murder on Potter. The children see it, but are afraid to tell.

During the trial, however, Tom comes forward as a witness and points out the killer. Joe escapes.

Passionate about finding the treasure, Huck and Tom walk into an abandoned house. They see Joe and his accomplice hiding the gold. Huck warns the Douglas widow that Joe intends to kill her.

Tom and the girl Becky get lost in a cave. They meet Joe there, but the children manage to get out. The judge nails the entrance to the cave and Joe is starved to death. Tom and Huck find the treasure. A widow takes Huck into her care.
