One day the latter was at his workplace, as usual. After a while, someone knocked on the door of his office. Hope said: «Come in!» The door opened, and a visitor entered the room.

Peter didn’t immediately look at the person who had entered, and when he did, his astonishment was overwhelming. The aforementioned person had a strange appearance, as a result of which the journalist could not determine her gender.

The guest introduced himself as Tommy. Peter asked the man several questions about his gender and last name, but did not get an intelligible answer. Tommy offered Hope the services of a housekeeper, but was politely declined. The journalist offered the surprising person a shilling, but she did not agree to take it.

Tommy said he had no relatives at all. He added that he would spend the next night on the street because he had nowhere else to go.
