A famous writer named Morton Rainey is accused of plagiarism by someone named John Shooter. The writer tries to prove that the story was written by him before, but Shuter begins to pursue him.

Morton Rainey, a famous writer, has divorced his wife and moved into a small house in a town in Tashmore Glen. But one day a man named John Shuter comes to the writer’s door and accuses him of stealing a story from him. Morton tries to prove to the stranger that the story was written by him earlier and published in a magazine, the latter gives the writer three days. The next morning, the hero discovers his cat dead.

Morton tries to get a copy of the magazine with the story, which is kept by his ex-wife, but the wife’s house suddenly burns down. The hero asks his friends for help, but they strangely disappear. Their corpses are found by the writer in the car. In addition, every morning Rainey feels very tired.

In the finale, the writer realizes that John Shooter is his second self, into which the hero transforms at night. At this time, Emmy’s ex-wife arrives to see her ex-husband. Morton becomes John Shooter again and tries to kill the woman, but insurance man Fred Evans kills him with a gunshot.
