1 minute

The general sends a young incorruptible official, Ivan Petrovich, on a covert inspection of the official Persyukov. The latter began to receive anonymous reports.

Persyukov himself met him at the train station and took him to his home. He generously fed his guest and drank French wine, and then bowed out, citing urgent business.

Ivan Petrovich was left alone with Persyukov’s beautiful wife, Valentina Petrovna. The wine hit his head and he began to dream of love. The woman began to hint at intimacy and Ivan Petrovich, unable to resist, began to kiss her. But she rejected his advances, shaming him.

Burning with shame, Ivan Petrovich decided to leave the house, saying in the end that Persyukov should be more careful with passing sums, since anonymous letters were written on him. He realized that his inspection had failed and, throwing the anonymous letter on the table, ran out of the house. At that moment a satisfied Persyukov, who had arranged everything with his wife, came out of the next room.
