Descartes argues that sanity represents that which is most fairly distributed. The French philosopher writes that every individual considers himself excessively endowed with it. The author thinks it seems incredible that all people are deluded about it. In his opinion, this is proof that the nature of the mind is of the same origin in all members of the human race.

The difference in people’s ways of thinking occurs, according to Descartes, not because some individuals are smarter than others, but because of one’s ability to choose different directions of mental activity and to consider different things. Having a good mind is not an important indicator — one must be able to use it intelligently.

The French philosopher states that he never considered his mind to be special. On the contrary, he wished, for example, to have as clear an imagination as other people. The presence of the mind distinguishes man from the animal.
