5 seconds

The main character Joanna was a simple peasant girl who heard the voices of otherworldly entities. It was this gift that helped eliminate the cause of her acquaintance’s misfortunes.

1 minute

The peasant girl Joanna claimed to everyone that the saints Margaret and Catherine, as well as the archangel Michael, were communicating with her. These otherworldly entities, in her opinion, had been sent by God to guide the girl to the true path.

One day an acquaintance of the lady, Robert de Baudricourt, began to complain that the chickens on his farm had stopped laying eggs. At the same time, Joan says that her assistants want the siege of Orleans to be lifted. She then adds that she will have to crown the Dauphin in Rheims Cathedral. The protagonist’s words provoke an attack of laughter from Robert, but his superior feels inspired by her speeches. Gradually a similar feeling arises in Mr. de Baudricourt.

After a while it is discovered that the hens have begun to lay eggs again. Robert de Baudricourt takes this as a sign from God.
