An English family who recently moved to India finds a half-living mongoose. The people nurse the baby, and it stays in their home. A curious animal named Rikky-Tikky-Tavi explores his surroundings. In the garden, he meets Darcy, a bird whose chick was eaten by Nag, a large king cobra. That day, Ricky saves boy Teddy from a small poisonous snake.

Soon the mongoose learns from Choochundra the rat that Nag plans to climb into the bathroom and bite the owner so that people will leave the house and he and Nagayna will live here in peace.

Ricky-Ticky-Tavy stalks Nag and attacks him. Hearing the noise, the landlord comes running in and shoots the snake. Afterwards, the mongoose decided to destroy Nag and Nagaina’s eggs. While Darcy distracted the cobra, Ricky dealt with the eggs, with only one left.

But the angry Nagaina decided to attack the people resting on the veranda. The cobra was about to lunge at Teddy when Ricky appeared with the last egg in his teeth. Nagaina tried to sneak away with the egg, but the mongoose caught the cobra and killed it.
