Dante asserts that his soul is burdened with a weight. He becomes bitter, and regretfully asks who is capable of suffering as he himself has. Alighieri says that when a siege by Love begins, the life in a state of great anxiety begins to leave the body.

Dante writes that as a consequence of the aforementioned events there is an exceptional strengthening of the spirit. He says that the spirit is at his side. The Italian poet declares that in that moment he is fighting and wishes sincerely to help himself. He has a deadpan look and is exhausted because of his constant mental torment.

Alighieri seeks a meeting with an unknown person in order to be cured. At times he succeeds in obtaining the desired date, and when he notices the aforementioned person, he begins to experience serious excitement. At such moments, life begins to leave the corporeal shell again.
