Editor Sergei Kuzmich Pocitayev, returns from work completely exhausted and collapses on his bed.

He tells his wife that he can only complain to her, who can understand and support him.

The man tells his wife that he has problems at work. The main trouble is that Prince Pochukhantsev came to the editorial office with a request to publish poems dedicated to the actress.

The editor considered the poems unworthy and refused to publish. The prince was offended and the men quarreled.

Pochetayev does not know what to do — he does not want to print the poems so as not to disgrace the newspaper, but if he does not comply with the prince’s request, he will spoil the editor’s life.

His wife asks him to read the poems and finds them very decent and romantic. She thinks they should be published.

The offended editor, thinking that all women are the same, leaves for the restaurant.
