Medusa Gorgon was the daughter of the stormy sea god Phorkias and his sister Keto. Unlike the other Gorgons, she was mortal. At first this character of ancient Greek myths was distinguished by her beautiful appearance.

One day Poseidon, succumbing to base passions, transformed himself into a bird and decided to find the aforementioned girl in order to abuse her. The damsel succeeded in reaching the religious edifice erected in honor of the goddess Athena. Nevertheless, the ruler of the seas still found her there, after which he raped her. However, the other divine beings decided to punish not Poseidon, who had committed the terrible crime, but the unfortunate representative of the fair sex — they thought that she had desecrated the temple.

As a result, Athena turned the main character’s hair into snakes and disfigured Medusa Gorgon’s face so badly that any creature would turn to stone at the sight of the victim of circumstances.
