Lieutenant Pinkerton began dating a girl from Japan. After a while, he wants to marry Chiyo-chiyo-san. A friend dissuades him from taking a rash step. He refuses to listen, and his beloved is even ready to leave the family, if the relatives don’t accept her betrothed. During the wedding, the bride’s uncle appears in the hall and curses her.

After the marriage, Pinkerton leaves for the service, while his wife remains waiting for him. The couple gives birth to a son who stays with his mother. After a while, the girl receives a letter. It says that Pinkerton has married an American and will soon come here. The heroine does not listen to the letter, and knew nothing of the marriage.

Chiyo-chiyo-san learns of the ship’s arrival and waits for her spouse at the window. After she falls asleep, there is a knock at the door. At the threshold stood her husband with a stranger. He told the heroine everything, and she told him about her son. Pinkerton wants to take the child, then leave town and forget about Chiyo-chiyo-san. Unable to bear the betrayal, she sticks a dagger in her chest and dies.
