In Venice, Aleo tries to seduce Juliette. She tells him the story of her love for Leon Leoni.

Juliette was the daughter of a banker from Brussels. One day at the theater she falls in love with an Italian aristocrat, Leone Leoni. Her parents consent to the wedding. Leon convinces Juliette to run away with him to Switzerland.

The couple live happily ever after. But in winter, Leone takes Juliette to Venice. There he invites his friends over and indulges in card games, but he becomes cold to Juliette.

Juliet tries to free her beloved from his destructive passion. But she soon finds herself a pawn in the game of Leone’s friends. She tries to return to her parents, but Leone wants Juliette to remain under his control.

Leone’s lover, Princess Zagarolo, is taken in by Leone’s friend, the Marquis. It turns out that Leone was just after wealth. But Juliette defended Leone until he tried to sell her to Lord Edward. She threw herself out of the window and Leone fled.

Aleo tries to kill Leone, but kills his evil genius, the Marquis. Juliette returns to Leone again.
