The main character is Lancelot. One day a member of the fair sex, Guinevere, is kidnapped by a man named Meleagant. He was the son of the sovereign of the kingdom of Gorre and preferred to inflict only evil on those around him.

King Arthur allows one of his knights, Gowain, to pursue the kidnapper. During his pursuit, the servant of the famous English king accidentally meets Lancelot. The latter has worn his own horse to death and asks Gowain for a new animal. Gowain agrees, after which the famous knight rushes to save Guinevere. After a while Arthur’s servant catches up with the protagonist and sees him leading the second horse to its demise.

Soon Lancelot encounters a gnome. The little creature declares that he will tell the knight where to look for the stolen beauty if he agrees to ride in his cart. The protagonist agrees, though reluctantly, considering this mode of transport unsuitable for his person.

In the future, Lancelot rescues Guinevere.
