The enemy constantly tears at his wounds, prevents his wife from mourning her living husband and forbids the priest to carry his vows to the gods who have saved him from death. An ill-wisher robs the exiled old man of his last piece of bread and wishes him the same fate. He promises that he will become the sworn enemy of the one who beats a lying man with a merciless hoof.

The author threatens Ibis with examples of the terrible fates suffered by various heroes from myth and history. He promises that even if he dies during his exile, his ghost will reappear to slay Ibis.
