On the banks of the Euphrates once stood the city of Uruk. Seven wise men founded it by building a wall of stone. In distant times, the ruler of Uruk was Gilgamesh, a descendant of the mighty gods.

Gilgamesh was a strong and wise king. He was able to unite the scattered tribes and fight back the enemy. One sorrow: the ruler liked to take part in martial arts and battles, but there was no equal opponent in strength and agility in the city and beyond its borders. The people of Uruk prayed to the gods to send Gilgamesh a worthy opponent. While they were competing, the people would have time to rest from the rampage of the bogatyr.

The immortal rulers fulfilled the people’s request. From the clay the goddess Aru created half-beast-half-man Enkidu, who was not inferior to Gilgamesh in power and strength. They fought for a long time, but no one was victorious. Then the bogatyr and the half-beast became best friends. Together the heroes performed many feats that made them famous all over the world.
