Minka and Lelka, brother and sister, found an old shabby galosha in the yard and began to play with it. The old man offered to buy the old shoe back from the children for two coins. The money was enough for two servings of ice cream. The children adored this delicacy, but they did not eat it often.

The next day, Lelka came up with a lucrative deal: to take a homemade galosha to the junk man. Whole, almost new thing will be worth a lot more, not less than a ruble. You can have plenty of ice cream.

Lelya takes the first galosha in the hallway. The children take it to the junk man. The cunning peddler guesses that the bargain is a good one. He refused to pay more than a nickel — shoes without a pair are not expensive. The kids stole another pair of galoshes from the house, but it turned out not to be a pair.

In the end, the children got three coins. And as punishment, their father sold all the toys to a pawnbroker to buy new galoshes and return them to the guests.
