Russian Civil War. On the Crimean Isthmus, the surviving fighters of the White Army desperately resist the Red Guards.

Serafima Korzukhina is a young St. Petersburg woman who flees with her husband to the Crimea.

A headquarters is deployed in the hall of the station. General Khludov is ill with something. Korzukhin, Serafima’s husband, asks to ferry wagons with valuable fur cargo to Sevastopol. The Bolsheviks are already in the Crimea. Khludov believes that God has turned His back on the White Army.

They want to punish Serafima for allegedly coming with propaganda. Charnota saves her from death. A hunt begins for the girl.

Stalin said that Bulgakov’s play is an attempt to justify, to evoke pity for emigrant opponents of the existing system. As such, the work represents an anti-Soviet phenomenon.
