The devil appears to the scientist and promises him all the pleasures of life in exchange for an immortal soul. Faustus agrees.

The doctor meets the innocent girl Marguerite and seduces her. With Mephistopheles, he kills her brother and escapes. Later Faust discovers that Marguerite is in prison. He tries to rescue her, but the girl refuses.

Faustus finds himself at the court of the emperor, where, with the help of Mephistopheles, he summons the ghosts of Paris and Helen the Beautiful, whom he falls in love with.

Mephistopheles transports him to the ancient world, where Faust marries Helen. They have a son, but he dies and the woman follows him into Hades.

Faustus embarks on a grandiose construction project to subdue the sea. Suddenly he dies. Mephistopheles wants to take his soul, but the angels take it away. Faust’s forgiven spirit enters heaven, where it is greeted by the soul of Marguerite.
