The father of the protagonist differed difficult character — he often quarreled with children and even beat the boys in the event that he did not like something.

Young Miss Hill worked in a local store and faced negative attitudes from the management of the retail facility.

After a while, Evelyn and Frank made their way to the port to board a steamer to South America. But in the end the girl changed her mind about going to a distant land for her.
