Irish physician Peter Blood was exiled as a slave to the West Indies for helping a wounded rebel. Thanks to his medical knowledge, Blood soon becomes the personal physician to the governor of Barbados. Peter soon meets the niece of the brutal Colonel Bishop, Arabella. The hero immediately fell in love with the beauty.

Soon Blad and twenty companions managed to escape by capturing a Spanish ship. By ship the fugitives reach the pirate’s den — the island of Tortuga. Blood decides to become a pirate.

Soon the fame of Captain Blood spread all over the Caribbean. The fearless Blood plundered the ships of the Spaniards while displaying nobility unprecedented for a pirate.

A few years later Blood agreed to join the service of the French admiral de Rivarol. Together they set out on a raid on the wealthy Spanish city of Cartagena. Thanks to the fury of the pirates, the city surrendered, and rich booty awaited the heroes.

In the finale, Blood learns of the death of the former King of England, marries Arabella, and returns home.
