The elderly man is cared for by several people, including a son-in-law (the widower of his deceased daughter Denby), a maid, her caregiver brother, the caregiver’s twin brother, the old man’s son Miles, his wife Diana, and his wife’s sister Lisa.

The work details the fate of each of the people close to Bruno. The characters interact with each other, fall in love, and love triangles arise. Diana is attracted to Denby, and Denby loves Lisa. Lisa, in turn, is attracted to Miles. Their feelings turn out to be mutual, but the man is already legally married to Diana.
