The main character of the piece is a 17-year-old young man named Pinky. He lives in Brighton and plays the role of the leader of a local youth gang. Its members live on the grounds of a poor boarding house and carry out racketeering. Each of the members of the criminal group has its own reasons for choosing this particular path of life. But they all have one thing in common — they fully recognize Pinky’s authority.

This is primarily because they are afraid of their leader. And not without reason, since the main character absolutely despises universal morality. Pinky’s main goal in life is to acquire and retain power by any means necessary. His complete antithesis is the woman Ida, who wants to avenge his murder of Fred.

She wants to bring the main character out in the open and, in doing so, save Pinky’s girlfriend named Rose from himself. However, Rose is a naive girl who does not want to realize that Pinky is taking advantage of her.
