Two friends: Theobald and Lena live next door. The boy has a big family, and the girl lives alone with her mother and dreams of having a father. To find him, she writes an ad.

The boy Theobald lived in a cove in Norway. He was friends with a girl whose name was Lena Leed. The children ran a cable car between each other’s houses. When Lena went to check it out, she got stuck in the middle. Then Theobald made a mattress for his friend, on which she landed.

The hero lived in a big house with a big family, and Lena lived alone with her mother. The girl wished she had a daddy. One day the children make a witch for a holiday. Lena decides to use her mother’s big old doll as the basis. When the witch was ready, it was burned according to an old tradition. Lena screams for the fire to be put out, but the doll is already burnt.

Lena writes an announcement that they will take her daddy in good hands and hangs it in the store, but the girl’s mother manages to tear it down. Theobald had grandparents. Grandma’s sibling took the boys for a ride in a box on a moped and made delicious waffles. Lena gets chicken pox and is visited by Dr. Isak, whom the girl mistakes for her daddy.
