Alexander Blok from his childhood was drawn to writing poems. The future poet wrote his first verse when he was 5 years old. But the turning point in Alexander’s life would be another event, which would happen five years later.

This event was the magazine «Herald». Two of Alexander’s brothers led this magazine, and when he was 10 years old, they took him on as one of the editors. It was there that the young man’s first poems appeared. Blok worked on 37 issues of the magazine.

As time passed and the poet matured, he began to gain fame. His poems became popular, and Blok himself became one of the most famous Russian poets of the twentieth century.

But to gain popularity Alexander was helped by the poems he wrote as an adult. Although his adolescent poems allowed him to hone his skills, they did not make Blok as popular as his later works did.

Yet everyone starts somewhere. And that’s how the famous symbolist poet began.
