The goddess Thetis and the centaur Chiron wanted to make Achilles immortal. The sea goddess bathed him in the food of the gods, and the centaur fed him the entrails of wild beasts. When Achilles grew up, he became strong and invulnerable.

When war broke out in ancient Greece, Achilles’ mother was afraid for him; she knew that he was destined to die in the war. She decided to hide her son with King Lycomedes. He dressed Achilles in women’s clothes and hid him with his daughters. The diviners knew where Achilles was hiding, so the leader Menelaus. He dressed up as a merchant and went looking for Achilles.

When Menelaus found Achilles, he suggested he return and go to war. Achilles was also tired of hiding, so he agreed. In war, Achilles proved himself to be a courageous and fearless warrior. He performed feats, in everything. Achilles died in the palace of Paris. He aimed two arrows at Achilles, one hitting his one vulnerable spot, his heel.
