Two friends from St. Petersburg are in correspondence. One of them — Lisa went to her grandmother in the village. She writes to Sasha about everything that is happening to her and waits for her reply.

Sasha congratulates her friend on her new way of life and hopes that she will like it. She suspects that Lisa had a secret reason for leaving. Recently, one of Sasha’s guests asked if she knew anything about her friend. The girl admits that she misses her friend and asks her to come back.

Lisa assures Sasha that there were no secret reasons for her departure. So that Sasha is not bored, she offers to continue their correspondence. The girl says that she met a family in the village and describes her new acquaintances in detail.

Sasha says that Lisa was asked about her constant admirer, Vladimir. He would be a great groom for her friend. The girl replies that she likes Vladimir, but she does not want to leave the village. In a new letter, Lisa asks Sasha for advice. She says that the man she was running away from has come to see her.
