Once upon a time, Natalya Vladimirovna went to the station with her admirer Pyotr Sergeyevich. On the way they were caught in a thunderstorm, and the young people took shelter at the stables.

Pyotr Sergeyevich declared his love for the girl without demanding reciprocal feelings. After all, he is poor and not noble, and she is a rich noblewoman.

Then they returned together, happy, to her estate.

Then he visited her in the city, but he could not overcome his shyness and did not propose to his beloved.

Years have passed. Pyotr Sergeyevich works in the city and sometimes visits Natalya Vladimirovna, but he no longer speaks of love. And now he has come to visit her.

The woman, feeling sorry for herself and Pyotr Sergeyevich, whose timidity has ruined their lives.

Seeing the man off, Natalya Vladimirovna sees that he too has remembered the past and wants to say something to her. But Pyotr Sergeyevich only shakes her hand in farewell.
