A wealthy young woman marries Jacob Fuller. But he mocks her, humiliates her, and then abandons her by tying her naked to a tree.

Years later, it turns out that the woman’s son, Archie Stillman, has an incredible instinct as a sniffer dog. When he turns 16, his mother sends Archie to find his biological father and take revenge on him.

Archie finds his father in a silver mine. He lives under the name Flint Buckner. He is in hiding and communicates with almost no one. Practically enslaved to him is young Fetlock Jones, an Englishman.

At this time, Sherlock Holmes is visiting California. Fetlock Jones turns out to be his nephew. Fetlock blows up Flint’s lair and kills him, right in front of Sherlock, who does not notice. Sherlock Holmes decides to look into the case using his deductive method, but comes to false conclusions, blaming the miner Sammy Hillier.

Archie uses his amazing nose to exonerate Sammy and point to the real killer, but the miners let him escape.
