Maude Marsh is an aristocrat descended from the Marshmorton family. The girl’s parents recently separated, and she now lives with her father. Last summer, the noblewoman met the American Jeffrey Raymond. A good friendship immediately developed between the young men during their summer vacation. And after a while Maud fell in love with this sociable man who lived on the other side of the Atlantic.

She immediately told her parents about it. Her mother and father were already aware of the fact that her chosen one lived outside the United Kingdom and of his not the richest financial condition. And Maude’s sister Caroline Bing, who is in charge of the Marsh household, did not approve of such a decision on the part of the girl. However, Caroline didn’t just try to put pressure on her sister by banning the wedding. She said that her sister would under no circumstances leave Belfer Castle. And her beau will not be allowed into the castle.

Meanwhile, Carol prepares her adopted son for his wedding to Maud.
